Senior Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Litigation Solicitor to join our team at Wigan Council. As a Senior Lawyer, you will play a key role in providing legal advice and representation to the council and its stakeholders.

About the Team

The Wigan Council Legal Team is a dynamic and client-focused team that provides high-quality legal advice to the council and its stakeholders. We are committed to delivering excellent service and working collaboratively with our clients to achieve their objectives.

Responsibilities

• Providing legal advice and representation to the council and its stakeholders on Civil Litigation matters, including complex and legally challenging cases.
• Acting as an advocate for the council at County and Magistrates' courts, 1st Tier Tribunals, inquiries, and other statutory and legislative hearings.
• Handling a personal caseload of legal cases, including complex and significant matters, and providing guidance and support to clients on a range of legal issues.
• Working closely with client officers, Elected Members, and other key stakeholders to assist them in the delivery of their service objectives and priorities.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Civil Litigation Solicitor who is passionate about delivering excellent service and working collaboratively with clients. You will have a proven track record of providing legal advice and representation in Civil Litigation matters, including complex and legally challenging cases. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
