Job Title:

Modification Technician

Job Type: Full-time

Location: North London, UK

Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 per annum

Job Description:

This role offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a state-of-the-art train facility in North London. As a Modification Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of rolling stock by undertaking regular maintenance and repairs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing scheduled modifications/maintenance activities on rolling stock in accordance with vehicle modification and maintenance instructions.
  • Undertaking servicing and preparation of rolling stock.
  • Driving vehicles within depot confines in accordance with depot operating procedures and instructions.
  • Participating in ongoing continuous improvement activities for Modification/Maintenance processes and maintenance procedures that support all depot and fleet activities.
  • Supporting the delivery of new trains and undertaking Modification/maintenance acceptance processes.
  • Ensuring exam tasks are completed in a timely manner and undertaking basic fault rectification or repair when required.
  • Adhering to all health and safety processes and procedures.
  • Undertaking preventative and corrective maintenance as required.
  • Supporting Mods/Maintenance Team Leaders and Shift Production Managers in the delivery of the production plan.
  • Recording all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Working shifts to meet service requirements.
  • Assisting as required with any other responsibilities relevant to the role.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will need a strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering, with experience working in a rolling stock maintenance depot environment. You must also possess outstanding Safety Awareness gained in an operational railway engineering environment and proficiency in reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings.

Qualifications:

  • Served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines.
  • Engineering-based NVQ level 3.
