Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic professional who is passionate about paediatric audiology to join our friendly, forward-thinking, high-performing team at the Children's Hearing Centre (CHC).

The successful candidate will be based at St Michael's Hospital, Bristol, and will work closely with the audiology team, providing diagnosis, treatment planning, and hearing aid fitting for babies and children of all ages.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering expert audiological assessments and interventions, staying updated on the latest advancements in audiology, and providing compassionate and patient-centred care.

Main Duties

Clinical Excellence: Deliver expert audiological assessments and interventions to patients, with a focus on maintaining clinical excellence.

Patient-centred Care: Provide compassionate and patient-centred care, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with children and their families.

Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the audiology team, supporting a positive team culture and providing guidance to less experienced staff.

Quality Assurance: Contribute to the maintenance of high-quality audiological services by adhering to standards and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

  • Significant post-degree experience in any area of Audiology with a specialist interest in paediatric audiology.

Desirable:

  • Highly specialised knowledge of paediatric audiology acquired through a combination of in-depth experience and post-graduate/post-registration training.
  • Experience undertaking clinical audit and/or research.

Skills and Abilities:

Essential:

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.

Aptitudes:

Essential:

  • The post holder should be an autonomous, self-directed practitioner who is able to complete the duties and responsibilities outlined in this job description without direct supervision.
  • Able to work well under pressure and prioritise workload.
  • Exhibit good judgement and excellent decision-making.

Qualifications and Training:

Essential:

  • BSc/MSc in Audiology or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with the HCPC or AHCS.
