Job Opportunity for Consultant Psychiatrist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in a leading healthcare provider based in the Birmingham area.

This hospital offers fast access to expert treatment for a range of mental health difficulties, including addictions, depression, anxiety, and stress.

To be considered for this position, you must hold a CCST/CCT or equivalent in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a valid GMC registration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide RC responsibility for all patients
  • Ensure safe prescribing and monitoring of physical health
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and treatment planning with patients, external stakeholders, and carers
  • Manage patients on the ward, including physical health, mental state, and risk management
  • Adhere to organisational admission and discharge policy and procedures
  • Prepare timely discharge GP notifications and discharge summaries
  • Prepare Mental Health Act tribunal reports
  • Utilise proficient IT skills for prompt entry onto the electronic care record
  • Engage with external professionals and families/carers
  • Participate in audit, research, quality, and performance management, and other clinical and professional activities
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Previous consultancy experience is desirable but not essential
  • Fulfill the role of Responsible/Approved Clinician to patients and experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties
  • Evidence of post-registration continuing professional development
  • A positive attitude and commitment to change, improvement, and quality
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice

The successful Consultant Psychiatrist will receive a competitive salary of £160,000 - £165,000 per annum. This exciting position is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours a week.
