Key Responsibilities
  • Advise Senior Management on H&S Law and updates.
  • Ensure safety procedures and working practices comply with legislative requirements and company values.
  • Oversee accident reporting under RIDDOR guidelines.
  • Monitor and take action on accident/incident investigation, record, manage complaints, and cases of ill health.
  • Investigate and record incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of ill health.
  • Conduct risk assessments and site inspections, considering risk reduction.
  • Produce inspection analysis and reports to suggest improvements.
  • Ensure equipment is installed correctly and safely.
  • Deliver and coordinate required training, maintaining records, and ensuring consistency across all sites.
  • Chair and coordinate H&S meetings for the Scarborough site.
  • Assist with conducting H&S audits and oversee H&S audits by external insurers.
  • Making presentations to groups of employees/managers.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities.
  • Ensure the OH&S Management System conforms to the ISO 45001 standard.
  • Report on the performance of the site OH&S Management System to top management.
  • Perform internal audits of the ISO 45001 Management System when requested.
About You
  • Qualified with an Occupational H&S qualification, e.g., NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma.
  • Proven ability to acquire and apply detailed legal, technical, and regulatory information.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with difficult situations.
  • Effective communicator at all levels - internal and external stakeholders.
  • Positive, proactive, and professional approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain confidentiality.
  • Organisation and time management skills (priorities and multitask).
  • Excellent analysis skills in understanding processes, tasks, and operations.
  • Listening and ability to summarise as well as presentation skills.
  • Leadership and persuasive skills.
  • Calm, patient, and assertive, with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Driving licence is desirable.
  • Willing to travel to other UK-based site locations.
