About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our London office as a Global Pro Bono Practice Manager. This role will report to a senior lawyer within the Pro Bono team and will support the Head of Social Impact, Pro Bono Counsel, and Pro Bono Senior Associates in managing, developing, and promoting A&O Shearman's global pro bono practice.

The ideal candidate will have direct legal experience advising and acting for clients, as well as experience of project management or pro bono work as a volunteer or co-ordinator. The focus of this role is on developing and managing partnerships with civil society organisations, social enterprises, social finance institutions, non-profit organisations focusing on access to legal rights, and our global charity partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and assessing new pro bono requests against our policy and scoping the legal need.
  • Liaising with A&O Shearman in-house lawyers and other stakeholders on regulatory compliance issues and with partner champions where necessary.
  • Assisting the Pro Bono Senior Associates with the development and coordination of large, strategic pro bono projects (both UK-based and global).
  • Maintaining matter placement records and statistics and monitoring and evaluating core projects, leveraging technology and firm resources.
  • Supporting members of the Pro Bono Team to deliver pro bono opportunities in collaboration with commercial clients.

Requirements

  • Estimated salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum.
  • A bachelor's degree in law or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and partnerships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
