Direct Medics is a leading provider of healthcare professionals to the NHS and private sector. We are currently seeking a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our team in a specialist eating disorders service.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work with young people and their families in an eating disorders and related comorbidity service. The successful applicant will have a post-graduate doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology and current HCPC registration. They will have knowledge and understanding of eating disorders and related comorbidities, and the impact these have on children and adolescents, and their families.

The ideal candidate will be able to apply evidence-based approaches and engage in evidence-generating practice throughout the service. They will also be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and understand the importance of working alongside MDTs to achieve the best possible outcomes for young people.

Requirements:
  • Current HCPC registration as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist
  • Post-graduate doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the BPS
  • Knowledge and understanding of eating disorders and related comorbidities (e.g. anxiety, trauma, depression, self-harm), and the impact these on both children and adolescents, and their families
  • We will also consider applicants from newly qualified psychologists, or from those who are about to qualify (please clearly state in the application when you will receive HCPC registration)
  • Prior experience in eating disorders is desirable but not essential for this position. Experience working with patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder, neurodivergence, trauma and personality disorders is also desirable
