Setting Out Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Setting Out Engineer to join our team at Van Elle. As a key member of our Housing division, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate setting out of ground beams and piles, checking drawings, and producing as-built records.
As a Setting Out Engineer, you will work closely with our Piling & Smartfoot ground beam crews, using site plans, plot layouts, and precision instruments to mark out piles, beams, and pile caps. You will also be responsible for overlaying drawings using AutoCAD, recording as-built records, and reporting any issues back to the operations team.
Key Responsibilities- Setting out piles and beams on site, including recording as-built records and reporting any discrepancies.
- Setting out, levelling, and surveying on site.
- Liaising between engineers and the construction team to ensure plans and drawings are accurate.
- Supplying reinforced concrete setting out support to the construction team.
- Keeping a site diary and reporting site progress to the engineering and survey department.
- Coordinating Pile/Beam layouts with site layout drawings.
- Planning and managing your own time to ensure all sites can be catered for.
- Conducting quality control checks and building records.
- Providing site technical support and assisting in the supervising of subcontractors on site.
- Checking quantities for accuracy of calculations.
- Liaising with subcontractors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce.
- Attending regular site meetings and keeping the client and contracts manager informed of progress made.
- Preparing reports and assisting with day-to-day site management.
- 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of surveying and construction procedures.
- Structural setting out experience.
- Knowledge of and experience in reinforced concrete.
- Numeracy and the ability to make mathematical calculations.
- The ability to understand and interpret data.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- AutoCAD experience.
- A valid CSCS card.
- A competitive salary depending on experience.
- Hours of work are typically 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday with paid breaks, however flexibility is required.
- 22 days holiday plus bank/public holidays.
