About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Compliance Specialist to join our Indirect Tax Team at Pembroke Communications. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our Centralised Insolvency Delivery Team in managing VAT compliance across our company administration, liquidation, and receivership cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Insolvency VAT Compliance Calendar: Ensure all key deadlines for the submission of indirect tax returns are met.
  • Support IDT Team Case Administrators: Provide VAT-related guidance on VAT invoicing, tax points, VAT return enquiries, and VAT treatment of supplies.
  • Liaise with HMRC: Communicate with HMRC regarding VAT return submission, option to tax, pre-credibility checks, and HMRC claims.
  • Draft Indirect Tax Comments: Prepare comments for creditor progress reports, estimated outcome statements, and secured creditors where relevant.
  • Deliver VAT Training and Updates: Provide ongoing VAT training and updates to the IDT case team.
  • Develop Indirect Tax Processes: Continually develop and improve indirect tax processes.
  • Liaise with Internal Stakeholders: Provide updates on case progression matters and assist senior members of the IDT with planning for new work.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Legislation: Maintain knowledge of legislation and practical changes impacting VAT compliance.
Requirements
  • Strong UK VAT Technical Knowledge: Possess in-depth knowledge of UK VAT, including place of supply, time of supply, partial exemption, and compliance processes across various industries.
  • Experience in Compliance Management: Proven experience in managing compliance in-house or managing a portfolio of clients/customers.
  • Strong Communication and Team Skills: Excellent communication, team playing, and project management skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills: Ability to use Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
