Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom Office for Nuclear Regulation Full time

About ONR

">

As the UK’s independent nuclear regulator, our mission is to protect society by securing safe operations at nuclear facilities across the nation.

">

The Role of an Internal Hazards Inspector

">

This role involves a range of responsibilities, including undertaking planned and reactive inspections on site, assessing safety submissions, and managing discrete intervention projects.

">

Specifically, as an internal hazards specialist inspector, you will focus on considering hazards that originate within the site boundary and are due to initiating events over which the site operator has control.

">

This includes assessing the risk of internal fires, explosions, flooding, dropped loads, and other potential hazards that could impact plant or safety-related structures.

">

Key to this role is ensuring that safety cases adequately consider the whole range of potential internal hazards and that duty holders provide suitable measures to prevent them and protect plant against their effects.

">

About You

">

We are looking for someone with experience in internal hazards within the nuclear industry or equivalent, including knowledge of safety case production, assessment, and physical inspection.

">

You should also have a demonstrable background in assessing complex safety systems designed with multiple lines of protection to protect against internal hazards.

">

A strong understanding of relevant safety standards and design and engineering principles is essential, as well as experience implementing safety solutions in a hazardous industry.

">

Additionally, you should have the ability to assimilate, analyse, and provide judgements on new and complex technical issues clearly and concisely.

">

Benefits and Working Arrangements

">

ONR operates a hybrid working policy, allowing employees to balance work in the office with working from home. There is an expectation that everyone will spend some time in the office on a regular basis.

">

The successful candidate must hold or can achieve National Security Vetting clearance at SC level and have a full driving licence that permits driving in the UK unless reasonable adjustments can be made under the Equality Act 2010.

">

Estimated Salary Range

">

Pending qualifications and experience, the estimated salary range for this role is £77,942 to £93,606 per annum, plus a £4,052 London Weighting Allowance if applicable.
