Job Overview: Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to support children in an SEMH school near Lancaster. As a vital member of our team, you will deliver person-centred support to pupils who present high levels of challenging behaviours associated with SEMH issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver person-centred support to pupils with SEMH issues, ensuring their emotional and behavioural needs are met
- Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualised behaviour plans, promoting positive relationships and outcomes
- Provide de-escalation training and support to colleagues as needed, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and incident reports, providing valuable insights for future planning and intervention
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children who display challenging behaviours, including those with SEMH issues
- Previous experience with Team Teach training, enabling effective de-escalation strategies
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desired), ensuring compliance with best practice
- Enhanced Child Barred List DBS certificate (or willing to process new application), guaranteeing the highest level of safeguarding
