CHIS Controller

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled CHIS Controller to join our team at Counter Terrorism Policing. As a CHIS Controller, you will be responsible for supervising and directing the recruitment and management of CHIS for WMCTU.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage existing CHIS in line with codes of practice and RIPA.
• Support handlers in obtaining the most effective intelligence dividend from CHIS.
• Prepare detailed applications for authority in relation to the deployment of CHIS.
• Maintain appropriate tradecraft to ensure the welfare, safety, and protection of staff and CHIS.
• Gather, record, and disseminate intelligence in accordance with RIPA and CPIA.
• Work closely with partner agencies and other WMP Departments in support of WMCTU objectives.
• Liaise and advise with police officers and police staff around CHIS recruitment opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a good knowledge of local, national, and international issues and its relevance to daily activity.
• Respond to tasking identifying the most appropriate use of CHIS.
• Manage finances and audit expenses.

Requirements

We require a confident individual with excellent communication skills who can provide advice and guidance to both CTP WMCTU staff/officers and partner agencies. You should have a solid background in operational policing and be able to demonstrate effective communication when briefing colleagues and partners at all levels.
