About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Vaccination Specialist to support our vaccination programmes for flu, Covid, shingles, pneumococcal, MMR and RSV. As a Vaccination Specialist, you will work as part of a dynamic team delivering a safe and effective service for the administration of vaccinations to patients aged from 6 months.
Main Responsibilities
- Clinical assessments, addressing any concerns the patients might have
- Administration of vaccines according to the relevant National Protocol, Patient Group Directive (PGD) and guidelines
- Informed consent
- Vaccine preparation from multi dose vials, as required
- Mixing of vaccines, as required
- Undertake additional tasks as required within your general role as a vaccinator
- Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role
- Follow in house, local and national Infection Control guidelines
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse or Registered Paramedic, Physiotherapist, Pharmacist
- Good up to date clinical knowledge, including knowledge of immunisation schedules in accordance with national recommendations.
- Trained in administering vaccinations and immunisations via intramuscular injection and intranasally.
- Immunisation training and experience of delivering immunisations.
Desirable
- Basic Life Support and anaphylaxis training.
- Full clean driving licence and able to travel locally and around Oxfordshire to administer vaccinations (mileage will be paid at 45p per mile)
Experience
Essential
- Good patient centred skills.
- Good organisational skills and IT literate.
- Ability to make decisions appropriate to your role and level of competence.
- Understand and observe strict confidentiality.
- Able to undertake the requirements of the post.
- Reliable, flexible and excellent attendance record.
