SEMH Learning Mentor Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled SEMH Learning Mentor to join our team at Long-term Teachers Ltd. As a SEMH Learning Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored support to a student who requires specialised assistance in managing their behaviour and emotions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a nurturing and trusting relationship with the student.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to address challenging behaviour and encourage positive interactions.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and special education team to create personalised learning plans.
  • Deliver one-on-one guidance and support to enhance the student's social and emotional skills.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant or mentor, preferably with a focus on SEMH support.
  • Comprehensive understanding of social, emotional, and mental health needs, with the ability to implement targeted interventions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students, colleagues, and parents effectively.
