About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Wayland, a Category C prison. As a key member of our Facilities Maintenance Team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the prison.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside experienced colleagues to maintain and repair commercial and industrial heating and water systems
  • Ensure compliance with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements
  • Contribute to a safe and secure environment for prisoners, employees, and visitors
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, including plumbers, electricians, and administrators
Requirements
  • Two years' experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent
  • Familiarity with relevant health and safety requirements
  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and people skills
