Safety Case Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Case Engineer to join our team in Whitehaven, Cumbria.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a hybrid basis with 2 or 3 days per week in the office.
The successful candidate will support the Safety Case Manager in the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of the Safety Cases for Analytical services and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing high-quality safety case advice and documentation for B229 Safety Case development and safety case implementation.
- Working collaboratively with other disciplines to develop operations schedules, engineering schedules, operator instructions, maintenance instructions, and training packages.
- Facilitating communication between relevant stakeholders during the verification of the safety case.
- Presenting safety case documents to safety committees on behalf of the Safety Case Manager.
- Overseeing the production and completion of Safety Case Implementation Plans.
- Producing and reviewing Process Management Plans.
- Supporting the delivery of operator briefings regarding safety case changes.
- Engaging with Regulatory bodies and other external stakeholders for the associated facility safety case.
Candidates with BPSS Security Clearance are encouraged to apply, with a view to upgrading to SC Clearance.
Essential Experience:
- Able to understand safety case documentation, engineering drawings, and other related information.
- Effective communication and team working skills.
- Able to use standard IT packages and databases.
- Able to work independently to high standards and in compliance with legislative, regulatory, and company policy standards and procedures.
- Good analytical thinking skills and experience of solving novel and possibly challenging technical issues.
- Good planning skills.
- Self-motivated with a high level of resilience.
Desirable Experience:
- Demonstrably competent against the Sellafield requirements for Safety Case Advisors.
- Degree qualified or relevant experience.
- Previous experience in operations, engineering, technical disciplines, or in a support team for an operational plant.
- Knowledge of safety case implementation.
- Experience of Regulatory interface.
- Knowledge of the relevant Site Licence Conditions.
