Join our team at Accountancy Action as a Financial Controller / Accountant, where you will play a key role in shaping the financial strategy of our company as it continues to expand.
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller / Accountant to manage and oversee the accounting functions for four entities, with turnovers ranging from £1 million to £20 million. This includes ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the accounting functions for four entities, with turnovers ranging from £1 million to £20 million.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Lead and mentor a team of four direct reports across multiple sites, providing guidance on financial processes and ensuring smooth operation of the accounting function.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns.
- Oversee the financial reporting for three separate entities, with limited consolidation for the smallest entity into another.
- Conduct valuations for contractors and monitor financial performance throughout project lifecycles.
- Ensure that final project numbers are accurately submitted and reflected in the financial statements.
- Participate in pitches and client-facing activities as needed, especially where financial insight is critical.
- Contribute to business development and client pitches, with a strong understanding of the commercial aspects of the business.
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Accountant role, preferably within a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of VAT and CIS returns, financial reporting, and project valuation.
- Experience with multi-entity financial management is a plus.
- Ability to contribute to business development and client pitches, with a strong understanding of the commercial aspects of the business.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
