Job Summary

The Production Director will be responsible for the daily management of the shipyard's functions and operational teams. This includes overseeing and managing the construction, outfitting, and assembly of ship sections in a newbuild construction scenario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure safety, quality, and delivery of work are maintained within project requirements and company policies.
  • Manage all phases of project development, from pre-contract activities to final handover.
  • Provide visible leadership and guidance to personnel in the team to meet successful delivery of agreed targets and milestones.
  • Drive improvements in productivity and implement improvements in the Safety and Quality culture within the business.
  • Manage all aspects of project performance, service delivery, and safety management systems.
  • Develop and manage bids and tender processes.
  • Provide proactive HS&E leadership and ensure compliance with HS&E policies and processes.
  • Manage and review the delivery organization to ensure alignment with program schedules.
  • Manage and control contracts, commercial aspects, quality, risks, and issues.
  • Manage operational team budgets and resourcing.
  • Engage with maintenance departments to minimize downtime and manage efficiencies.
  • Engage with clients throughout the project lifecycle and build professional client relationships.
  • Provide insight, advice, and recommendations to the Production team.
  • Lead, develop, and motivate the team to deliver program milestones.
  • Enable and develop improved productivity across all areas of production.
  • Set direction on daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual targets.

Requirements

  • HND or above in management of people or suitable experience.
  • Solid marine/ship construction background in an operational management capacity.
  • Proficient in project management principles and techniques.
  • Able to interpret drawings and have in-depth knowledge of shipbuilding processes, materials, and industry standards.
  • Experience in management of successful/heavy fabricated ship construction.
  • Management of teams and objective setting.
  • Proven capability in leading multi-disciplined teams.
  • Understand cost control and earned value management.
  • Focussed individual with excellent motivational skills.
  • Effective delegation and performance management skills.
  • Tenacity and persuasiveness.
  • Ability to guide, mentor, and develop a team.
