As a research placement student with Dartmoor Zoological Society, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our dedicated team of researchers and contribute to the development of new projects.
We are seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking individual who is undertaking an animal or zoo-related degree, environmental science or psychology degree. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the research department in representing the zoo in a positive manner.
- Conducting, analysing, and writing up at least one research project, which may involve assessing visitor impact on animal behaviour or evaluating enrichment for various animals.
- Collecting data for ongoing research projects and presenting your findings to staff at Dartmoor Zoo.
- Possibly representing the zoo at conferences and contributing to the advancement of zoological research.
Previous research topics have included assessing enclosure moves and evaluating the effectiveness of different enrichment methods.
We estimate that this role would pay approximately £18,000-£22,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
