Mid Level Game Designer - VR Gaming AR/VR/Immersive Tech

£40,000 - £50,000 per annum

UK Based (Remote)

We are seeking a skilled Mid Level Game Designer to contribute to the development of immersive gaming experiences. If you're passionate about game design, have a keen eye for detail, and are excited about creating engaging gameplay systems, this role could be a great fit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement gameplay systems that offer immersive game loops, balanced mechanics, and engaging flow states.
  • Develop storylines, character backgrounds, and dialogue, creating scripts and storyboards based on thorough research.
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design outlines, diagrams, and mockups, to communicate game interactions, triggers, and events.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI Designers to refine and optimise player interfaces.
  • Design and build level layouts that enhance the overall gameplay experience.
  • Identify design challenges and propose innovative solutions.
  • Work closely with creatives, developers, and project managers across varying lengths and complexities of projects.
  • Build and showcase confident prototypes to bring game concepts to life.
  • Support the development team throughout the production process to ensure successful game implementation.
What You'll Bring:
  • A portfolio showcasing your design skills and ready to discuss in an interview.
  • A minimum of two years of game design experience.
  • Strong knowledge in key game design areas, including combat systems, progression mechanics, monetisation strategies, and level design.
  • Expertise in analysing, synthesising, and documenting game concepts.
  • Experience in taking a game from concept through to live release.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a passion for video games.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX in gaming, from basic to advanced.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently.
  • A positive attitude toward feedback, with a drive to continuously improve.
Bonus Skills:
  • Experience with AR/VR immersive technologies.
  • Cross-platform development expertise.
