Job Title: Systems Engineer Level 5

NATS is the UK's leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. Our mission is to advance aviation and keep the skies safe.

Job Purpose:

This role is part of our Technical Services function, focusing on the Flight Data Domain of the Systems Engineering Practice. We're looking for a skilled Systems Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and development of software for complex systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the team to design and develop software for complex systems, using a wide range of technologies.
  • Collaborate with technical experts to support and maintain systems that form part of the Flight Data Processing systems.
  • Develop software using C, C++, and other structured languages, with a focus on safety-critical environments.
  • Use Unix/Linux and other operating systems to support system development and maintenance.
  • Generate operational Work Instructions and documentation to support system operation.
Requirements:
  • Experience in Systems Software Engineering and delivery of technology change, ideally in a safety-critical environment.
  • Experience using Unix/Linux and other operating systems.
  • A minimum HNC level qualification in an Engineering related discipline, or an equivalent/higher qualification.
  • Proven experience demonstrating positive teamworking skills and consideration to quality vs time when evaluating solution options.
  • Application of Software Engineering Lifecycle and associated processes.
