Manchester, United Kingdom The University of Manchester Full time

A challenging opportunity has emerged in the Neuroimmunology Research Group at The University of Manchester to investigate the intricate relationship between the immune system and circadian behaviour during chronic challenges.

We are seeking an accomplished Postdoctoral Researcher with a strong background in neurosciences, who will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers to address fundamental questions in neuroimmunology and behaviour. The ideal candidate should be eager to expand their skillset into complementary disciplines within the lab.

The successful candidate will undertake postdoctoral activities in neurosciences and neuroimmunology, and related cross-disciplinary research. This would involve formulating hypotheses and conducting original research using various animal models and techniques, including electrophysiology, chemogenetics, optogenetics, stereotactic surgeries, behavioural tests in mice, imaging, and 3D cell image reconstruction.

The Research Associate will work closely with the Principal Investigator to conceptualize studies and design experiments, aiming for publication in relevant journals. Additionally, they will contribute to team science by supporting other lab members and undergraduate trainees intellectually and practically, as well as collaborating with internal and external collaborators. The appointed candidate will also have opportunities to develop their career through local, national, and international fellowships and transferable skills acquisition.

This fixed-term appointment is initially for 24 months, with potential for extension based on satisfactory progression.

The lab values curiosity, passion, inclusion, humility, and teamwork, and we seek a candidate who shares these values. Experience with murine models is essential, and women and underrepresented minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
