About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading Infrastructure contractor delivering services to the water sector throughout the South West. The company is an industry leader working across eight regional centres both in JV's and sole contractors on long-term water sector frameworks.


Key Responsibilities

Design Development:

  • Develop cost-effective design layouts that meet project specifications and can be constructed and commissioned efficiently, considering all associated costs (design, material, erection, and inter-discipline impacts).
  • Ensure the use of standard practices to maintain competitiveness.
  • Provide estimates and feedback to the Proposals department.

Process Improvement:

  • Work according to established procedures and processes, contributing to the continuous improvement of the department.
  • Assist in the development, monitoring, and review of procedures and processes.

Project Coordination:

  • Ensure effective coordination of designs with all internal and external disciplines to benefit the contract as a whole.
  • Maintain comprehensive files and records throughout the duration of contracts.

Health, Safety, and Environment:

  • Ensure all designs comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Strive to minimize waste and consider environmental impacts in all design activities.


About You

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in the design and specification of complex process systems, including Clean Water Treatment Works.
  • Proficient in creating Process Flow Diagrams, Mass Balance Calculations, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
  • In-depth understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
  • Experience in leading a team to design water and sewage treatment plants.
  • Membership in a relevant professional institution, with chartered status or nearing chartership.
  • Relevant Engineering degree or HND in a related discipline.
  • Strong ability to rationalise designs and produce economically viable plant layouts.
  • Broad knowledge of water treatment disciplines, including mechanical, process, and electrical engineering, as well as project management.
  • Excellent computer literacy and the ability to present technical proposals clearly and confidently.
  • Valid driving license.

Desirable:

  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
  • A relevant Master's degree in Engineering.
