Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, who will play a key role in the receipt, supply, and distribution of pharmaceutical products across our hospital site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to work in a fast-paced environment, providing exceptional patient care and service. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be responsible for receiving and unpacking orders, checking stock levels, and ensuring that all items are stored correctly following Good Distribution Practice principles.

You will also participate in the pharmacy stock-control programme, investigating discrepancies, maintaining, and rotating stock, and ensuring waste is kept to a minimum. Additionally, you will be responsible for accuracy checking of ward stock top-up, including drug strength, formulation, pack size, expiry date, and quantity, in line with departmental procedures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Receiving and unpacking orders from wholesalers and other companies
  • Checking stock levels and ensuring accurate storage following Good Distribution Practice principles
  • Participating in the pharmacy stock-control programme
  • Accuracy checking of ward stock top-up
  • Providing cover for the pharmacy portering service

We offer a competitive salary of approximately £25,000-£30,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of basic salary.
