Your New Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the integrity of financial data for active commercial projects at period-end.
  • Compiling data from various sources and utilizing analytical tools to provide comprehensive financial and non-financial insights.
  • Collaborating with Regional Commercial Directors to manage risk in project portfolios and support business expansion through bid and tender assistance.
  • Assisting with the external audit of the contract portfolio.
  • Developing and implementing internal controls, processes, and procedures in collaboration with financial and commercial departments.
  • Serving as the organization's subject matter expert in contract accounting and influencing system development.
  • Providing analysis support for M&A activities within the company.
  • Leading the completion of the yearly insurance questionnaire with the company's insurance broker.
  • Implementing enhanced management information, performance, and support for company objectives.
  • Generating management account data to facilitate forecasting and budgeting.
  • Establishing productive working relationships with budget holders, advocating for changes as needed.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of contract working capital reporting, including projecting weekly contract receipts, aging debtors, challenging aged contract work-in-progress regions, and other contract risk areas.
  • Ensuring timely payments to suppliers in accordance with the Prompt Payment Code, raising cash balances on contracts with commercial teams where necessary.
  • Overseeing ongoing development and performing additional tasks as needed.
Requirements for Success

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in a senior financial role, preferably within the engineering or construction sector.
  • Relevant accounting qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • The ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
