Procurement Category Manager - Estates Management

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Category Manager to join our team at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC). As a key member of our Procurement team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to advance our category management plans and evolve into a sustainable, innovative, agile, and strategic procurement function.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of Estates procurement, including suppliers, equipment, and services across multiple departments.
  • Work confidently with both external supply chain partners and internal stakeholders to ensure high levels of service, maintain governance, and promote best practices across the supply chain.
  • Develop and deploy procurement category strategies to support our Estates and Maintenance projects.
  • Review legal terms and conditions and contribute to supplier contracts.
  • Provide procurement support to our Long Term Maintenance Programme and large Capital Projects.
Requirements:
  • Robust background in procurement management, with experience of handling projects with different funding streams.
  • Strong business acumen, with a track record in negotiating pricing and supplier contracts, and conducting thorough due diligence to assess commercial risks.
  • Experience of ERP systems (Unit 4 would be advantageous) and exposure to large public tenders, Public Contracting Regulations, and procurement reporting and analytics.
  • Member or studying towards MCIPS or possess an equivalent professional certification in supply chain management.
