Job Title: Acute Medicine Consultant NHS Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Medicine Consultant to join our dynamic team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Acute Medical department, you will play a vital role in shaping and enhancing our Same Day Emergency Care offerings and facilitating smooth patient flow through Acute Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care
  • Development of subspecialty interests that fit in with division needs and the strategic direction of the Trust
  • Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties, and contributing to undergraduate and post-graduate and continuing medical education activities
  • Provision of cover for Consultant colleagues' periods of leave in accordance with arrangements agreed within Trust policy
  • Participation in clinical audit and in continuing medical education
  • Conducting suitable duties in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances
Requirements:
  • Fully registered with the GMC
  • Entry on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at interview
  • Clinical training/experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT
  • Expertise in full range of medical conditions
  • Ability to lead a multi-professional team and take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
