Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technician to join our team at Taylor High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the operation of technician services in science, workshop, and ICT.

About the Role

The Senior Technician will be responsible for administrative duties, including managing Conditions of Service, time keeping, and holidays for technician staff. They will also supervise trainee technicians and liaise with the Technical Service Manager and other agencies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Effective and safe operation of technician services in science, workshop, and ICT.
  • Administrative responsibility for technician staff in matters affecting Conditions of Service, time keeping, and holidays.
  • Supervision of trainee technicians and liaison with the Technical Service Manager and other agencies.
  • Performing other technician-related duties delegated by the Technical Service Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an SVQ3, HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline, with the ability to communicate, motivate, and demonstrate team leadership qualities. They should also have extended experience in an educational environment, knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, and the ability to train others.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £33,000 - £38,000 (NLC9) per annum. In addition to the salary, the successful candidate will receive a range of benefits, including 27 days annual leave and 6 public holidays, and access to the council's learning and development opportunities.
