Job Title: Apprentice ICT Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Technical Support Engineer to join our client in Gloucester. The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of telecommunications technologies and specialist knowledge in at least one of the Key Technical Skills listed below.

Key Technical Skills:
  1. Specialist knowledge in Optical Networks and associated hardware.
  2. Familiarity with a range of test equipment such as optical power meters & light sources, BERTs, cellular scanners and multi-meters.
  3. Familiarity with Cellular RTE, Routing & Switching protocols and network synchronisation.
  4. Able to conduct testing and produce full comprehensive test documentation / reports.
  5. Experienced in fault finding methodology.
  6. The ability to manage fault tickets process from beginning to end.
  7. Ability to administer and run turnkey projects.
  8. Experience with remote network management platforms.
  9. Experience in Cisco hardware and configuration, ideally with CCNA level qualifications or working towards.
Key Supporting Skills:
  1. Excellent communication skills both verbally and written, internally and externally.
  2. Comfortable engaging with both customers and suppliers on technical and project related matters.
  3. Experience using Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  4. Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously using their own initiative.
  5. The ability to train other members of the team and customers.
  6. Ability to work under pressure and to given deadlines.
  7. Available to carry out field activities as when the business requires, to include GPS & cabinet surveys, Installation of telecoms equipment, commissioning and fault rectification.
Additional attributes:
  1. A good work ethic that shows pride for their work and appearance.
  2. Willingness to learn.
  3. Hold or previously held any telecommunications-related courses/qualifications with regards to theory, installations, testing, commissioning, power & H&S.
  4. Flexible approach to work.
Benefits:
  1. GBP33,000 to GBP44,000 Dependent on experience.
  2. Auto enrolment to Pension scheme after successful 6-month probation.
  3. 20 days Annual Leave plus 8 days Bank Holiday.
  4. 1-day extra Birthday Leave.
