Key Responsibilities:
  1. Evaluate and manage risk and need levels for children with child protection plans.
  2. Develop and implement care plans through collaborations with parents, colleagues, and other agencies to achieve improved outcomes for children with Child Protection Plans.
  3. Provide safe accommodations for children and young people and initiate care proceedings when necessary.
  4. Create care plans in partnership with children, families, and care providers, based on thorough assessments.
  5. Prepare and submit court statements and present evidence on behalf of the Local Authority when required.
  6. Prioritize the well-being of children in need, considering their individual characteristics.
  7. Prepare and submit verbal and written reports for child protection conferences, strategy meetings, planning meetings, and reviews.
  8. Maintain and update skills and knowledge of current legislation, policy, and social work best practices.
  9. Participate in regular supervision and performance appraisal sessions.
  10. Contribute to team discussions and organizational events to improve the service.
  11. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic case records in line with established policies and procedures.
  12. Ensure proper authorization and recording of expenses related to cases, as well as regular monitoring and review of cases with financial packages.
  13. Act as duty officer on a rotational basis as directed by line management.
  14. Report any suspicions of abuse or malpractice by colleagues, adhering to the Council's Whistle Blowing Policy.

Essential qualifications for this Supervising Social Worker position:

  • A professional Social Work qualification or equivalent.
