About the Role

Are you passionate about addressing mental health disparities in vulnerable populations? This unique opportunity allows you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness in Southampton.

We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Specialist to join our Homeless Health Care Team, working collaboratively with Registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, and Allied Health Professionals to provide holistic care and advocacy.

This role is perfect for someone who is driven to tackle complex biopsychosocial problems and has experience working with individuals who have experienced mental health issues. You will be responsible for care-coordinating a small caseload, assessing and formulating individual intervention plans, and evaluating care outcomes.

Your excellent communication skills will enable you to foster relationships with service users from diverse cultural backgrounds and partner agencies, including CGL, Probation services, and Southampton City Council local authority.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Care-coordinate a small caseload of service users experiencing or at risk of homelessness, with a focus on complex biopsychosocial problems.
  2. Assess and formulate individual intervention plans, incorporating current knowledge of NHS policies and practices in mental health.
  3. Work in a strengths-based and recovery-focused way to support service users in meeting their mental health needs.
  4. Foster relationships and engage with service users, partner agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.

You will contribute to weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, work in partnership with colleagues to evaluate care plans, and provide supervision arrangements to ensure practitioners develop their skills and knowledge.

Person Specification
  • Qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of NHS policies and practices in mental health, with a focus on complex biopsychosocial problems.
  • Able to work in a strengths-based and recovery-focused way, supporting service users in meeting their mental health needs.

We offer a competitive salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible working options.
