Design Engineer - Mechanical CAD

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Design Engineer to join our dynamic team at Cast UK Limited. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in product design and development, particularly within the sheet metal or electrical industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and continuously improve products to meet specified requirements, ensuring a strong and rigorous approach to design.
  2. Investigate new technologies, construction methods, and processes across our product portfolio, identifying opportunities for value engineering.
  3. Convert existing 2D CAD data into 3D Solid Edge format, creating accurate component and assembly drawings using CAD systems.
  4. Generate Bills of Materials (BoMs) for product release into production, utilizing advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including creating Macros and using complex formulas.
  5. Collaborate with external manufacturers and suppliers to establish and agree on specifications, fostering positive working relationships with colleagues nationally and internationally.
  6. Identify areas for improvement within existing manufacturing processes, constructing and evaluating prototypes for performance.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, injection molding, and 3D printing.
  2. Experience in Manufacturing - Sheet metal or electrical preferred, with proficiency in CAD software, particularly Solid Edge, and Lantek CAM.
  3. Strong and rigorous approach to design, with demonstrable experience in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), and a good understanding of electrical and electronics theory.
Remuneration:

£45,000 - £55,000 per annum
