About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Detention Officer. As a key member of our custody suite, you will play a vital role in ensuring the security, guarding, and monitoring of detainees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for detainees, including control and restraint, and searching of cells.
  • Reception, booking in, risk assessment, and release of detainees under the direction and supervision of the Custody Sergeant.
  • Provide associated administration and clerical support to ensure all documents and records are completed and maintained accurately and in accordance with force policy.
  • Carry out procedures of fingerprinting, image capture, DNA, and drug testing of detainees.
  • Ensure the Custody Suite is clean and tidy at all times, undertaking stock checks and replenishing items when required.
  • Attend training days, including IT, first aid, and Officer safety training.
Requirements
  • A Full UK driving licence with business insurance.
  • A good understanding of spelling and grammar, as well as attention to detail, as you will be recording daily interaction with detainees and completing forms.
  • The ability to deal with vulnerable, difficult, and sometimes violent people, and to interrogate and accurately input data on computer systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to work under pressure and communicate in a professional manner to the public, detainees, police, and partnership agencies.
