Job Summary
The Cost Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting major projects and organizations in the delivery of accurate and timely project information. This includes driving cost performance reporting, tracking actual costs, and establishing project control budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project cost control data structures to accurately track and control actual costs.
- Establish and set project control budgets aligned with agreed baselines.
- Track actual costs for internal and external expenditure against cost control structures.
- Monitor and control project accruals and commitments against set budget constraints.
- Build project forecasts, including estimated work to complete (ETC) and estimate at complete (EAC).
- Report accurate and timely project information, including Earned Value Management.
- Track project contingency and exposure associated with risk events and remaining risks.
- Monitor project change control to ensure alignment with agreed baselines and control data structures.
- Identify key project trends to inform future change controls.
Requirements
A qualified graduate in a relevant discipline with five to ten years of experience in delivering project controls services for major projects or programs.
Experience
Delivered cost engineering across a range of major projects, preferably across multiple sectors and internationally. Worked across the full project lifecycle, including pre-investment decision, design development, execution, and commissioning phases.
Experience in working to cost engineering procedures and processes, with the ability to define project cost procedures and standards.
Highly conversant with cost management systems, including Prism and Ecosys, and the interface with corporate finance systems such as SAP and Oracle.
Appreciation of business rules and how project funding and performance aligns with business financial account requirements.
