Management Accountant Assistant

SF Recruitment is proud to be supporting this industry leading organisation based in South Derbyshire, as they look for a Management Accountant Assistant to join the team on a 12 month fixed term contract, with a view to permanent employment.
The Role:
- Assist the finance team with month-end responsibilities, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Collaborate closely with the finance department to perform daily accounting functions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Work alongside the operations team to conduct stock assessments and audits, identifying areas for improvement.
- Generate timely and accurate reports as needed, providing valuable insights to management.
- Prepare draft monthly management accounts packs for presentation to management, highlighting key variances and trends.
- Explain variances to budget and prior year in management accounts, providing clear and concise analysis.
- Prepare accruals, prepayments and inter company journals, ensuring accurate and compliant financial records.
- Manage the balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring completion, content and accuracy.
- Be involved with weekly stock takes and weekly spot checks, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Conduct monthly/quarterly stock audits, identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations.
- Produce monthly departmental expenditure reports for department heads, providing valuable insights and analysis.
- Prepare weekly steel reporting and reconciliation, ensuring accurate and compliant financial records.
- Prepare weekly factory labour reporting and analysis, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Build a good relationship with the operations team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Ensure adherence to reporting requirements and deadlines on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis, maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Support the finance team in all matters relating to the preparation, provision and resolution of queries relating to the audit of the company's financial records.
- Undertake ad hoc reports, project work, and analysis as required, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
This is a full time position on a 12 month fixed term contract with a view for a permanent contract. You will be working 40 hours per week, with 4 days in office and 1 at home.
About You:
The ideal candidate will be part qualified, have the ability to communicate with people of varying levels, have experience in monthly budget variance analysis, and be a strong Excel user. You will also be confident in stock audits, spot checks, and building relationships.
Travel and overnight stays (cost covered by company) will be required during the first month or so of this contract to complete full training & handover, so ideally you will have your own vehicle. Though applications from those who do not drive will be considered for stand-out CVs.
