As an Autism Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with ASD, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

The Autism Support Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of personalised education plans for students with ASD. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting in the implementation of personalised education plans for students with ASD.
  2. Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder to help students understand and complete their work, providing additional explanations and assistance as needed.
  3. Monitoring and assessing student progress, providing feedback to teachers and adjusting support strategies as necessary.
  4. Participating in meetings and discussions to share insights and strategies for supporting each student's learning and well-being.
  5. Fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where all students feel valued and included.
  6. Employing different instructional techniques and materials to cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
  7. Keeping detailed notes on each student's development and communicating this information to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties.

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a support role in a school or classroom setting with students with ASD.
  • A deep understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and effective support strategies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to establish trust and rapport with all members of the school community.
  • Show a deep commitment to helping students with ASD by exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions.
  • Additional qualifications or training in special education are advantageous but not mandatory.

To work with GSL Education, you should have the right to work in the UK, provide an up-to-date CV, and have an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education. Salary: £75-£110 per day
