The Service Leader role is a leadership position responsible for supporting the Registered Service Manager and Deputy Manager in managing the daily operations of the service and leading a team of support workers. The role involves participating in the recruitment, guidance, support, and supervision of staff working within the service, ensuring the welfare of young people, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for young individuals facing various challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership to a team of support staff, including assisting with recruitment, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team atmosphere, promoting teamwork and professional development.
  • Ensure staff adherence to policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
  • Oversee the care and well-being of young people, including those facing challenges like struggling with independent living, mental health issues, or substance abuse.
  • Conduct intake assessments, develop individualised support plans, and monitor young people's progress.
  • Ensure homes are well-maintained, clean, and safe for young people and support staff.
  • Coordinate daily operations, including staff scheduling, resources allocation, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external agencies to maintain facility operations.
  • Supervise and assist support staff in maintaining accurate and up-to-date resident records, including progress notes and reports.
  • Monitor case management activities and ensure that support plans are effectively implemented.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to management and funding agencies.
  • Advocate on behalf of young people to access necessary services, benefits, and resources.
  • Assist residents with legal matters when needed and maintain knowledge of legal procedures.
  • Identify training needs and provide or facilitate training and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Conduct regular supervisions, performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community organisations, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the organisation at meetings, participate in networking events, and collaborate on community initiatives.

Requirements:

  • A Level 3 diploma in Health & Social Care or Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • A level 5 diploma in Leadership & Management or the ability to work towards
  • Significant experience working with young people, especially those facing challenges like homelessness, mental health issues, or substance abuse
  • Knowledge of local resources and support services for young people
