Job Description

Empowering Learning is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Psychology or Sociology Graduate to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant in a mainstream secondary school setting. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in education or gain valuable experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with various learning difficulties and disabilities in a mainstream secondary school setting.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
  • Assist with supervising children's behavior and de-escalating challenging situations.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school environment.
  • Engage with students, parents, and staff to promote a culture of respect and understanding.
Requirements:
  • Relevant degree in Psychology or Sociology.
  • Experience working with children or young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities (desirable).
  • Valid DBS registration or willingness to apply for a new one.
  • Availability to commit to at least 4 months, with a minimum of 3-5 days per week.
