Job Details

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Researcher to join our team at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position based at the St. James's University Hospital in Leeds.

Job Summary

This role involves working on a range of projects related to genomics and bioinformatics, with a focus on developing new methods and tools to support diagnostic platforms. The successful candidate will have a strong background in bioinformatics or computer science and experience working in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement new methods and tools to support diagnostic platforms.
  • Work with the lead bioinformatician and within the NEY GLH virtual team to plan activities and develop the bioinformatics capability of NEY GLH.
  • Contribute to research and development projects in the field of genetics and bioinformatics.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bioinformatics or computer science, with experience working in a team environment. Programming skills in languages such as Python and R are essential, as well as the ability to communicate complex ideas to non-specialists.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is £35,000-£40,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, the trust offers a range of benefits, including a pension scheme and opportunities for professional development.
