Process and Automation Specialist

Job Description:

The Process and Automation Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and improving manufacturing processes for connectors realization at Smiths Interconnect.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize series production in the plant and external manufacturing sites.
  • Test and validate process tooling.
  • Review and develop working instructions, workmanship standards, and process documents.
  • Review, update, and correct routings and production ERP technical data.
  • Validate manufacturing cycles and processes for new products in collaboration with manufacturing engineers.
  • Support new product prototype development and low-rate initial production.
  • Attend operational reviews through different product development stages.
  • Work on product transfers to other manufacturing sites.
  • Implement and maintain production process flows.
  • Liaise with production planners and internal technical services to ensure adequate BOM, routings, and process documentation.
  • Raise and process Engineering Change Notice (ECN) requests.
  • Provide manufacturing data to improve processes and measure progress.
  • Implement lean, continuous improvement, kaizen, 6S, and site standardization.
  • Identify ways to reduce production costs through process improvements.
  • Develop standard procedures to improve manufacture processes.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Be a promoter of lean and continuous improvement in work processes.
  • Maintain process engineering tooling and routings databases.
  • Deliver technical training to operators.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in process design and evaluation.
  • Experience in process implementation, lean, cost assessment, and process improvement.
  • Proficiency with Solidworks CAD.
  • Fluent English.
  • Proficiency in presenting technical presentations and operational reviews.
  • Quality Testing experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.
