Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and physically fit individual to join our Waste Management team at Chelmsford City Council. As a Waste Collection Operative, you will be responsible for collecting waste and recyclable materials from domestic properties and commercial businesses throughout the Borough of Chelmsford.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and transport waste and recyclable materials from designated areas
  • Operate a waste/recycling collection vehicle, ensuring safe and efficient collection practices
  • Work collaboratively with a small crew to achieve collection targets
  • Maintain a high level of customer service, responding to queries and concerns from the public
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to improve knowledge and skills

Requirements:

  • Valid HGV/LGV licence and current driver CPC card
  • Digi card and a clear understanding of safe working practices
  • Good knowledge of Chelmsford and its surrounding areas
  • Ability to work 37 hours per week, either over a 4-day week or 5-day week
