As an Assistant Buying Specialist, you will assist with planning and managing department sales, stock, and markdowns to maximise sales and achieve terminal stock targets. You will also have the opportunity to mentor Trainee Merchandisers and develop your own skills through ongoing learning and industry research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct historical analysis and forecast future trends to contribute to departmental strategy.
  • Build and maintain detailed range plans, factoring in sales history and upcoming events.
  • Ensure accurate line flows to guarantee stock availability aligns with forecasts and launch dates.
  • Analyse current trading performance and recommend actions to optimise profitability.
  • Propose markdowns and promotional activities while considering their impact on the bottom line.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of £27,000 - £30,000 per annum plus benefits.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an Allocator, Trainee Merchandiser or Assistant Merchandiser.
  • Strong numerical ability and experience with Excel and reporting tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Effective planning and self-organisation capabilities.
  • Experience in a retail environment is ideal, with knowledge of merchandising principles and systems.
