Job Description:

At Leonardo, we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business in Edinburgh. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting our world-leading radar and electro-optic products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components for radar and electro-optic products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical designs meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements.
  • Perform stress and thermal analysis, requirements analysis, design, implementation, test, build, and product support.
  • Interface with customers and stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy of specifications, designs, and reports.
  • Mentor and develop engineers in technical knowledge and soft skills.
  • Provide technical direction and support on critical business programs to ensure delivery of mechanical engineering excellence.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Mechanical Engineer with proven experience in a Senior or Principal level role.
  • Minimum of an upper second-class Masters Honours degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent job-related experience.
  • Experience of using 3D CAD software - Creo is desirable but not essential.
  • Chartered Engineer with IMechE or equivalent, or possess UK-SPEC competencies necessary for obtaining Chartered status with the IMechE.
