Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced A&E Senior Staff Nurse to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Clinical Nurse Leader, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensuring the provision of high-quality nursing care to children, young people, and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high-quality nursing care to children, young people, and families.
- Assist in the safe, effective, and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
- Promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice.
- Be familiar with and adopt the principles of the NHS Chief Nursing Officers vision for Compassion in Practice.
- Ensure the provision of excellent, evidence-based nursing care for the children, young people, and their families at all times.
- Ensure that each child or young person is assessed, and that their care is planned, implemented, and evaluated in negotiation with the family, and that this is accurately documented.
- Promote Family Centred Care and ensure the provision of a welcoming, caring, clean, and safe environment for the children, young people, and their families.
- Act as an advocate for the child, young person, and family ensuring the provision of appropriate information and support services.
Requirements:
- Knowledge and understanding of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Understanding of Diversity and Inclusion challenges in the workplace.
- Demonstrable contribution to advancing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Workplace.
- NMC Registered Nurse (appropriate to clinical specialty).
- Relevant nursing qualification.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development relating to clinical specialty.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Assessor or practice supervisor qualification/experience.
- Experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children or specialized transferable skills.
- Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing.
- Understanding of the importance of research and evidence-based practice.
- Basic knowledge of computer skills.
- Understanding or evidence of fulfilling requirements for Revalidation.
- Understanding of safeguarding issues according to Trust policies and procedures.
- Understanding of principles of clinical governance (e.g., risk management, audit, quality).
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to plan and prioritise care for patients.
- Committed to family-centred care.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent numeracy skills.
- Good time management and teaching skills.
- Ability to work well both in a team and on own initiative.
