Job Overview

Therapy Assistant Children's Therapy

Working alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and therapy assistants in a multidisciplinary team, this role provides therapy for children and young people in various settings, including hospitals and the community. The team offers therapy for a wide range of physical and learning needs.

Conditional progression to a Band 3 post upon completion of the Level 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker Apprenticeship within 27 months, subject to an informal interview. An induction program and the Care Certificate will be completed upon starting. It is essential to achieve the Advanced Level 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker qualification within 27 months, including attendance at Doncaster College for 20% off-the-job training.

This is a supervised post. A mentor will be allocated throughout the 27 months to supervise and support learning. If you are caring, hardworking, self-motivated, and able to motivate others, and wish to be part of the Children's Therapy team, we would like to hear from you.

Main Duties of the Job

You will work alongside therapists in managing shared patients, completing joint assessments, and independently managing your patient caseload. Great communication and time management skills are required, along with the ability to prioritize considering the variety of patients' needs. Flexibility and teamwork are essential. Documentation is integral to the role, and you will be expected to document patient records. Computer skills are necessary for accessing patient details and ordering equipment on the Clinical Therapy Information systems.

Qualifications/Training

Essential Criteria

  • 2 GCSEs grade 'C' or above, or equivalent, including English language and Maths
  • IT skills
  • Commitment to work towards completion of the Advanced Senior Health Care Support Worker Apprenticeship over 27 months

  • Nationally recognised training course(s) relevant to post
