About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Special Educational Needs School in Rhondda Cynon Taf. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related additional learning needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with a small class of students aged 8-10 with ASD and related additional learning needs, providing individualized support and guidance.
  • Collaborate with our experienced teaching team to deliver lesson plans and ensure students are engaged and motivated.
  • Develop and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment, promoting social and emotional well-being.
  • Support the implementation of behavioral strategies and interventions to address challenging behaviors.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure seamless support and progress.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • At least 40 days of relevant experience working or volunteering in a school or with children within the last 2-3 years.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm demeanor when dealing with challenging behaviors.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for supporting students with additional learning needs.
