About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Property Underwriter to join our Commercial Property Owners team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for underwriting our Property Owners schemes, working on a range of products including Buildings, Loss of Rent, and Property Owners Liability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite new and existing business, focusing on larger, more complex cases in the open market or from our CPO schemes.
  • Account manage your brokers, working with them to develop and execute annual business plans to achieve growth targets.
  • Take overall responsibility for Hiscox's relationship with your brokers, delivering profitable growth across your panel.
  • Identify poorly performing open market and scheme accounts and implement measures to improve their business with Hiscox.
  • Drive new business opportunities by regularly meeting your brokers and delivering a superior service to them.
Requirements
  • A strong property underwriting experience, with a deep understanding of the insurance market and industry.
  • Excellent relationship building, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
  • Strong communication, relationship management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with brokers and other stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of the insurance market, industry, competitors, and factors that can affect the market.
  • Either previous experience underwriting schemes business or a strong understanding of schemes and how they are operated successfully.
