Strategic Actuarial Consultant

PIC is currently seeking a Strategic Actuarial Consultant to become a vital part of our Capital Insight & Actuarial team.
Your responsibilities will include collaborating with our Origination, Investment, and Risk divisions, as well as other finance teams, to gain their support and implement enhancements to systems, processes, and technology. You will leverage your expertise and insights regarding the pricing and onboarding of new BPA agreements and their implications for our policyholders, driving favorable business results related to capital, profitability, brand reputation, and market standing while consistently achieving positive outcomes for our policyholders and shareholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive evaluations of Matching Adjustment ("MA") eligibility for new schemes initiated by Origination and assist deal teams in structuring agreements to ensure MA compliance.
- Oversee the review and assessment of new deal pricing, including the pricing of novel or atypical features.
- Prepare evaluations of solvency impacts for new agreements and communicate findings to senior management.
- Facilitate timely dissemination of information regarding prospective new BPA agreements to other teams within PIC.
- Comprehend cash flow matching of the MA Fund and contribute to the ongoing oversight of PIC's MA Fund in accordance with PIC's MA Approach Document and regulatory standards.
- Assist in the analysis of new trades and transfers to/from the MA fund and other hedging and risk management initiatives.
- Support SST and other ad hoc business projects as necessary.
- Take initiative for personal growth and development in both technical (e.g., data analysis and critical thinking) and non-technical (self-awareness and relationship management) skills relevant to Business Partnering.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market changes, regulatory updates in both public and private sectors, and best practices related to the BPA market by participating in industry seminars and reviewing relevant published materials.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Recently qualified actuary with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent.
- Experience in pensions or life insurance sectors.
Knowledge:
- Strong technical understanding of Solvency II balance sheets.
- Established expertise in actuarial methodologies including modeling, analysis, and investigation.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
Skills:
- Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
- Capability to persuade and influence stakeholders both directly and indirectly.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to manage tasks to meet deadlines.
- Aptitude for working within established procedures as recommended by functional teams, while also evaluating and challenging new concepts.
