About the Role

Wasserman is a global leader in sports, music, entertainment, and culture. Our Music division is a passionate, experienced, and entrepreneurial team of agents and music lovers. We are looking for a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team in London.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage EMEA accounting operations for Music, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, client accounting, cash accounting, payroll, tax compliance, and financial reporting in accordance with local GAAP and US GAAP standards.
  2. Own EMEA Music finance, accounting, revenue accounting, and reporting, ensuring monthly deadlines are achieved and full reconciliations are provided.
  3. Follow a structured monthly close and reconciliation review process to complete a month-end close within five business days.
  4. Own and manage statutory reporting books and associated reconciliations.
  5. Own and manage the monthly forecast process, ensuring a robust variance analysis alongside assessment and implementation of any corrective steps and plans needed to achieve financial targets.
  6. Direct financial planning and reporting on financial performance.
  7. Own P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow modeling for EMEA Music companies.
  8. Own and manage the annual budgeting process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with defined targets.
  9. Manage and mentor direct reports, providing guidance on career development.
  10. Develop high-quality and effective relationships across all business units and build good working relationships with key stakeholders.
  11. Collaborate with the US Music team on annual operating and long-term planning.
  12. Manage accounting integration of acquisitions and/or new business ventures and quickly establish robust financial controls and align to group accounting policies.
  13. Own agent acquisition models, providing scenario-based analysis to facilitate strategic decision-making and well-founded recommendations.
  14. Review client accounts and payables, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to clients, adhering to internal processing deadlines.
  15. Ensure accuracy of artists' statements and associated tax reporting, FEU returns.
  16. Ensure CRM system accuracy and robustness for revenue recognition and client payables.
  17. Manage foreign exchange policy for the company and group.
  18. Resolve non-standard issues and challenges, using strong judgment and leadership skills.
  19. Own and manage the Music annual audit, ensuring deadlines are achieved and filing compliance is adhered to.
  20. Support and assist with the annual group, US Music, and EMEA audits, ensuring deadlines are achieved and a high standard of working papers and supporting documentation is provided.
  21. Oversee a weekly cash and long-term cash flow planning process for Music, working in conjunction with the VP Treasury.
  22. Support the Director Tax EMEA to ensure full compliance for tax, VAT, and other relevant taxes in the Music EMEA region.
  23. Maintain strong financial controls and escalate issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
  24. Manage accounting staff to ensure deadlines are met, records are accurate, and controls remain intact.
  25. Promote a supportive team environment and provide work direction and guidance, including coaching, professional development, and training.
  26. Monitor and analyze team work to develop more efficient procedures and the use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  27. Drive high-quality financial/commercial performance.
  28. Identify potential process efficiencies and contribute towards a high standard, continuous improvement culture.
