Job Title: Nuclear Hazard Consultant

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled Nuclear Hazard Consultant to join our client's team in Warrington. As a Senior Radiological Safety Assessor, you will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and supporting due process of Radiological HAZANs, Operational Safety Memoranda (OSM), and Design Safety Memoranda (DSM).

Your role will involve preparation of Safety Case documentation, including PICSR, PACSR, Safety Case Summary, and OSMs to support PMPs. You will also work closely with the team to prepare, verify, and oversee Construction Crane Assessments, as well as engage with INSA and attend Regulatory Engagement Meetings.

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Science or Engineering, and have experience working in a nuclear or high-hazard environment as a Senior Safety Assessor. You must be able to work independently and produce assessments with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, review, and support through due process of Radiological HAZANs, Operational Safety Memoranda (OSM), and Design Safety Memoranda (DSM)
  • Preparation of Safety Case documentation (e.g. PICSR, PACSR, Safety Case Summary, OSMs to support PMPs)
  • Preparation, verification, and oversight of Construction Crane Assessments
  • HAZOP / HAZCON Chair
  • Oversight and verification of work carried out by Graduate and Junior Assessors
  • Engagement with INSA & attendance at Regulatory Engagement Meetings

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified (Science & Engineering or related discipline)
  • Senior grade Safety Assessor with Moderate and relevant practitioner experience in a nuclear or high hazard environment
  • The ability to work independently and produce assessments with minimal supervision
  • Experience in peer review, verification, and QA of Safety Assessments

Estimated Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum
